We all remember the day our elementary or middle school teacher told us that the next project we would be working on would be "Writing a Short Story". Some of us groaned, some of us panicked, some of us were too pumped to contain our assignment...I mean excitement!
For this interactive free-write, I am using Piccadilly, Inc.'s Complete the Story. It's chuck-full of story starters to get the creative juices going! Though I can't be sure, I think I purchased mine a our local Books-a-Million, but you can also find the "new and revised" edition on Amazon. I took this prompt out of the 2018 publication.
So, here's what you need:
An open mind.
A favorite creative work space.
Word Processing program, iPad, phone, other digital writing device or old-school pen-and-ink
A willingness to dive into something headfirst--with no hesitations!
For this activity, all you have to do is what it sounds like: Complete the Story. No needed word counts, no need to worry about the constraints of proper grammar and punctuation, no need to worry about what "grade" you will get.
Feeling really bold? Once you're finished, post the story in this thread and we'll chat.
Happy writing, followers!
Here is your prompt, found about 1/3 of the way into the book:
